Famished!

Ever had those moments where you were incredibly hungry? You hear the churning noise in your stomach? Have you had those times where you feel really weak and say to yourself; ‘have I eaten today?’ It’s a no brainer that food is essential to our day. So what kinds of foods do you like? Who feeds you?

Who feeds your soul? How does the soul get fed? Ever thought about your soul in that way? The essence of who you are can be found in the soul so who feeds that on a daily basis? Where can you go to get fed in this way?

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote: ‘character is higher than intellect. A great soul will be strong to live as well as think’

Gandhi said: ‘Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.’

The wise man Solomon had this to say about ‘the soul’, he said:

‘The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish’. We find this in proverbs chapter ten and verse three. He goes on to say; ‘he who gathers in the summer is a wise man, but he who sleeps in the harvest is a son who causes shame.’

The online dictionary provides the following definition concerning the word righteous; (of a person or conduct) morally right or justifiable; virtuous.

The promise is that God will not allow that soul to go hungry. That is; those who can characterize their life and soul to be right and virtuous can believe God will infinitely care for their soul. Does this sound like a tall order? Life itself is a tall order so the feeding of the soul just becomes a part of life!

The feeding of the soul is as important as the feeding of the body. Since we have long since discovered that man is made up of body, soul, and spirit it stands to reason that the soul needs feeding to keep healthy. Since the soul is connected to the body and the spirit, it would seem needful to keep these in harmony.  The feeding of the body is a daily exercise. So shouldn’t the feeding of the soul be likewise? Your soul can be satisfied just like your physical body is when fed.

God wants to feed your soul just like He provides substance for your day physically.

How about allowing God to feed your soul today?
